The weight of the unopened letter pressed on Alex's chest. He knew what was inside. He had found it tucked inside the back of a photo album. He had been through every inch of the house, looking for something that just didn't seem to be there.

He ran a hand through his hair, pacing the living room. He opened it. The first item on the list was "See the pyramids." He glanced at a photo of his wife. She was always afraid of flying.

He forced himself to read on. “Learn to dance.” “Go to a jazz club.” “Become an artist.” His breath came in shallow gasps. He crumpled the letter in his fist. He could hear her footsteps on the stairs. He quickly straightened the letter and laid it on the coffee table. He felt like he was drowning.
